Glasgow Museums’ social history collections offer a fascinating visual record of everyday life and work. Particularly rich for licensing are the archive of retro black and white photography, capturing the people, places and character of Glasgow, and the remarkable stained-glass panels created by Stephen Adam for Maryhill Burgh Halls in 1878.
The Maryhill panels are especially distinctive, depicting local trades and industries — from boatbuilders and railwaymen to glassblowers, papermakers and textile workers — with an unusual realism for Victorian stained glass.
