about us

Yellow House Art Licensing was founded by Sue Bateman in 2011, with a simple aim: to bring distinctive, high-quality artwork to the licensing market.

The artists represented by Yellow House are working illustrators, painters, printmakers and craftspeople, many of whom have careers that extend well beyond licensing. Their work spans children's publishing, fine art, editorial, design, printmaking and craft, alongside their personal creative practice. This gives Yellow House a portfolio with both character and commercial potential, from individual images for a greeting card to collections that can be developed into complete product ranges.

Sue works closely with the artists to identify artwork with licensing potential and enjoys developing long-standing relationships with both artists and clients. Some artists have been part of Yellow House for many years, while others are newer additions to the portfolio. The aim is always the same: to find the right artwork for the right product and to help clients discover something distinctive.

Alongside its artist portfolios, Yellow House represents a number of unique archives and art collections. Glasgow Museums offers an extensive and internationally significant collection, including Impressionist works, Old Masters, Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Japanese decorative art, tapestries and works such as Salvador Dalí's Christ of Saint John of the Cross.

There is also a fine art library spanning Old Masters, fine art and a particularly rich collection of Victorian Christmas cards, as well as an archive of retro black-and-white photography offering a very different source of imagery.

Yellow House also represents established designers Sarah Campbell and Cressida Bell, both highly respected names with decades of experience in textile and surface design. Their extensive archives offer a wealth of distinctive, recognisable work with strong licensing potential, while both continue to create new designs. Their experience and understanding of how artwork translates across products make them valuable partners for licensing.

Together, these collections provide a broad and varied resource for licensing across greeting cards, stationery, gifts, homewares, wall art, puzzles and other products, with new opportunities continually emerging from both established and lesser-known artwork.

If you have a specific brief, it is always worth getting in touch. Sue is happy to suggest artists, collections or individual images that could work for a particular product or market.
