Charles Rennie Mackintosh & The Glasgow Style

Charles Rennie Mackintosh was a Scottish architect and designer celebrated for his distinctive Art Nouveau buildings, furniture and interiors. Economic expansion the late 19th Century brought forth a flourishing art community in Glasgow. The Glasgow Style, a distinctive style of decorative design by Glasgow's artists & designers from 1890 to 1920 was Great Britain's contribution to Art Nouveau & Scotland's contribution to the Arts and Crafts moment. Mackintosh and his wife Margaret Macdonald were prominent in this group.
