Paul Thurlby

Paul Thurlby

Originally from Nottingham, Paul is an award-winning illustrator based in Brighton. His career gained momentum with the publication of his personal project Alphabet as a children’s book, leading to further titles inspired by cities including Paris, London and New York.

This body of work, alongside his wider portfolio, has proven highly successful for licensing, appearing across products such as calendars, jigsaws, greeting cards, tins and ceramics.

Paul’s distinctive retro aesthetic is influenced by his passion for vintage posters. Working with traditional media, he draws by hand before refining compositions digitally, creating bold, playful illustrations that retain a strong sense of craft and character.

His graphic, colourful style appeals to a broad range of clients across publishing, editorial, advertising and design. Clients include Vespa, John Lewis, The National Gallery, Airbnb, Sergeant Paper, Le Chocolat des Français, The Guardian, Templar Publishing, Hachette, Fortnum & Mason and The New Yorker.
