Laura McKendry
Laura McKendry is a London-based illustrator whose work is defined by exceptional draughtsmanship and a remarkable ability to capture character and movement. I was first drawn to Laura’s work because she can simply draw—her animal studies, particularly her dogs, are full of life, personality and warmth.
She works in charcoal, watercolour, ink and coloured pencil, but likes to experiment with whatever she finds lying around. She often stands to draw and paint on the floor which injects an energy and playfulness to her drawings.
Her illustrations depict the natural world including plants, food, animals and birds but she is perhaps best known for her drawings of dogs. Her archive offers a strong collection of beautifully observed animal illustrations and Christmas-themed imagery, both of which translate perfectly across a wide range of licensed products.
Alongside her illustration work, Laura runs workshops and mentors other artists, while continuing to develop her own practice. Her archive work, created entirely by hand, is available for licensing.
