Gillian Martin
Gillian Martin is an illustrator whose work is inspired by mid-century design, combining playful, graphic elements with a strong sense of pattern and colour. Her style often features a limited palette and a distinctive printed quality, creating bold, visually appealing compositions.
Raised in a highly creative family, she was surrounded by art and design from an early age, going on to study illustration and build a successful career working across publishing, advertising and editorial projects. She has lived in London and Toronto, and is now based on the North Yorkshire coast, where the seaside landscape continues to influence her work.
Working primarily from hand-drawn ink sketches, which are developed digitally, she creates designs well suited to surface pattern and product application. Her work translates particularly well into licensing, including greeting cards, prints, tins and textiles, where her clean, graphic style and strong use of colour have broad commercial appeal.
