Claire Winteringham
Claire lives in Lancashire and works from her home studio, although travels around the world have inspired her paintings. She would never leave home without a sketchbook, pencils and paints and often objects collected on her travels appear in her paintings.
From a very early age, she has been fascinated by the beauty, colour and shapes of flowers and plants and drawing and painting them is a wonderful way to observe them. She says that for her watercolour is the perfect medium to capture both their delicacy and subtlety or boldness and vibrancy.
She studied textile design and a love of pattern and colour is also evident in her watercolours of flowers and still life. As students, they were always encouraged to make preparatory drawings from life; landscapes plants, flowers which is still apparent in her work today.
Claire's work has been licensed onto greeting cards, advent calendars, stationery, jigsaw puzzles and gifts.
